What is included in the cost?
The orientation charge covers the cost of the orientation day and programming that takes place before and after it. Some of these costs include common reading materials, meals, parking, paying and training SOUL and Appol Corps leaders, materials, and more.
Parent and Family Orientation
The cost of guests attending the Parent and Family Orientation is included in the New Student Orientation charge. Guests are not charged separately.
We do ask Parent and Family Orientation guests to register if they plan to attend so that we are able to plan accordingly.
Paying for Orientation
The orientation charge will appear on the student's tuition statement and is paid through the Office of Student Accounts. Student Accounts does not have the ability to collect money with a credit card or electronic check. The charge will not be added until the day that they attend.
Students completing the Online Self-Paced Orientation will be billed on the due date for their registered session.
The orientation charge is separate from the enrollment deposit that is paid to Admissions to confirm attendance.
Financial Aid Resources
To provide more payment flexibility, the orientation charge is added to the student's account rather than being due at registration.
- Using Financial Aid: If they have financial aid, contact the Office of Student Financial Aid to confirm whether their award can be applied to the orientation charge.
- Need Additional Assistance? If they still face financial hardship after speaking with Financial Aid, have them email orientation@appstate.edu to request the form for consideration for additional assistance.
Withdrawn Students
The orientation charge is non-refundable once they've attended and must still be paid if a student withdraws from App State.
The only exception to this is for students who withdrew due to financial hardship. Have them email orientation@appstate.edu to request the form that is needed to be considered for assistance.
University Employees
App State and UNC system employees using their tuition waiver to attend classes should email orientation@appstate.edu to request to have the New Student Orientation charge waived.
