This Knowledge Base article explains how to set up Direct Deposit for refunds, identifies when it may be too late to enroll for a current refund, and clarifies authorized user limitations.
Setting Up Direct Deposit
Students can set up Direct Deposit to receive refunds quickly and securely through the Billing & Payment Center by Touchnet.
Steps:
- Log in to Touchnet at appalnet.appstate.edu.
- Select Self Service, and login
- Select on the Student tab
- Select the Student accounts option
- Select the Refunds tab
- Follow the prompts to add a refund account
- Verify that the routing and account numbers are correct before submitting
For additional guidance, refer to the “How to Set Up a Refund Account” (studentaccounts.appstate.edu) tutorial on the Student Accounts webpage under Billing & Payments, and Tutorials/FAQs.
Timing and Eligibility
If the refund has already posted to the student’s Touchnet account, it is too late to set up Direct Deposit for that refund.
However, students can still set up Direct Deposit to ensure future refunds are deposited automatically.
How to check:
- Log in to Touchnet (appalnet.appstate.edu) → View Activity.
- If the refund has already posted, it will be sent using the method currently on file (check or prior account).
- If it has not yet posted, Direct Deposit can still be added before the next refund run.
Authorized User Limitations
Authorized Users cannot set up Direct Deposit accounts for themselves or for students.
The student must complete Direct Deposit setup while logged in to their own TouchNet Billing & Payment Center account.
